Etching is a swimming pool repair that may be caused by an imbalanced PH or alkalinity in your water. This is solved by properly testing for and maintaining the proper levels of alkalinity and PH. PH levels should be between 7.4 and 7.8, while Alkalinity should be between 80 and 120 ppm.

Now, heavy metals can cause problems in any water system. Many homeowners have purchased water softeners to take some of these metals out of their plumbing systems. Likewise these metals, such as calcium, can cause swimming pool repair issues.

Scale is one of the problems that is caused by hard water. This is a build up of the metals on your plaster. However, having water that is too soft can also result in swimming pool repair. Water hardness levels should be kept between 200 and 400 ppm.

Tiny cracks in the plaster may have occurred during the initial curing of your pool. These are very tiny, barely visible cracks in your pool plaster and can be removed with and acid wash. These cracks do not signal more serious damage and do not require swimming pool repair.

Yet, larger cracks may signal a structural damage. This may be the case if you have a number of cracks. These cracks should be examined by a pool repair man so you can find out whether they signal anything more serious.
