RV Repair
One of the most coveted characteristics of the RV is the ability to carry indoor plumbing around with you. This was the best invention since indoor plumbing itself. However, there may come a time when your fresh water tank is in need of an RV repair.
Fortunately, RV repair for a freshwater tank is not difficult to perform. There are basically three steps for this RV repair. Preparing the crack, preparing the epoxy resin, and application are the threes steps to repairing your freshwater tank. It may be helpful to wear a mask while performing your RV repair in order to protect yourself from harmful fumes.
Preparing the crack is an essential part of the RV repair and cannont be skipped. Applying epoxy resin to a normal crack will result in a weak bond because it has trouble bonding. This is solved by preparing the crack by sanding the area. This should be done to the immediately surrounding area as well in a kind of feathered way. This will create the right surface for the epoxy to bond to.
Next, you must prepare your epoxy resin. This is done by adding the catalyst. Preparing the epoxy resin should be done according to manufacturers instructions. The epoxy should not be mixed until you are ready to use it. This is because once you have added the hardener you have a limited amount of time to use the product.
Now, it is time to use your fiberglass patch. This patch should be slightly larger than the crack itself. First, apply some resin to the freshwater tank on the area that was sanded. Now, apply your fiberglass patch. After affixing your patch, you should now continue covering the fiberglass patch with the epoxy resin. When you are finished with the RV repair, it must dry for 24 hours before filling.
