Are you in need of pool repair? If you are having trouble with a pump or other mechanical part of your pool, it is easy to know for sure that you are in need of pool repair. However, if you suspect that your pool has a leak, you might want to make sure that it actually does before you dish out the dough for pool repairs.

Pools can actually gain and loose water through natural means. Rainfall, evaporation, splashing and other processes can raise and lower the amount of water in your pool. Generally, if you are consistently adding more than two inches of water to your pool every week, you may need to hire a pool repair company.

Since different locations and humidity’s may evaporate water at different rates, your pool may evaporate more or less water than average. One way to test how much water should be evaporated is to use a comparison. You may want to sit a bucket outside next to the pool to compare the amount of water evaporated from your pool and the bucket.

Many people may not consider equipment as the cause of your pool leak. However, pumps and other plumbing may be the part that needs the pool repair. This is especially true if you notice that the leaking is only present when the pumps are turned on or only when they are off.

Another common culprit for pool leaks are the pool lights. In fact, pool lights are a very common source for pool leaks; fortunately, they are also easy to fix. Putty, silicone or caulking can be used for this pool repair and is not difficult to do yourself.

In some cases, you won’t be able to pin down the cause. However, there are some signs to look for. If your water stops leaking at a certain water level the leak must be above that point. Also watch for leaves and other objects that might get sucked into the leak at the point where the pool repair is needed.
