Home Repair
Your home is your castle, and as such, your home repair should be done by someone who knows exactly what they are doing. Yet, a good contractor has more to offer than the right technical skills; they should also have great customer service skills and be able to offer an economical price.
When hiring a contractor for you home repair it is important to check references and professional qualifications. Make sure that your contractor has had the proper training and education required for the home repair. Check to see if he belongs to any contractor organizations and whether he has a license.
When contacting references be sure to ask the right questions. In fact, it is helpful to have a list of the questions you want to ask in front of you so that you don’t forget any of them. Some important questions include topics such as craftsmanship, timeliness of the home repair, helpfulness of the contractor, difference between estimated and actual costs, and try to get an overall feel for how pleased the customer was.
You can also ask if the contractor has a portfolio. This will be a folder with pictures of past home repair jobs that the contractor has completed. This is a great way to get to see the actual craftsmanship that you can expect on your home repair.

While looking for a contractor for your home repair, watch out for anything that seems unusual to you. If the contractor seems to avoid your questions this can be sign that the contractor is either unwilling to listen to your ideas or the contractor has something to hide. Either way uncooperative or standoffish contractors may not be the best choice for your home repair. It doesn’t matter how great the end result, if it isn’t what you wanted.
